Sonoma Coast

Decanted 30 minutes before 1st pour and through evening. Deep reddish-purple in color, with a very expressive nose of plum, black cherry, vanilla, and smoke. Like liquid velvet in the mouth, with the plum and cherry flavors picking up peppery spiciness and vanilla on the finish. Lively acidity and some lingering dusty tannins balance it out. A big wine, but not heavy. 14.5% alc. not noticeable. All in all, a very nice wine that would have benefitted from another year of bottle age. We are visiting the winery next month, so we wanted to give this a whirl before going out there. We paid $40 for it locally. FWIW, Pinot Report gave it a 93, and WS 87.
