1999 Frei Brothers, Reserve, Russian River Valley, Pinot Noir ($18 retail/$30 in bistro). Medium ruby to the eye as pinot is wont to be. Blast of red fruit on the nose and upfront. A little earthiness (in a New World wine!!!) and unbelievable concentration across the palate; along with tannins that were just a tad on the tight side that we did not mind for one iota. The finish lingered as the 14.3% very ripe elixer trickled down the throat. Went spendidly with a bistro platter of braised pork ribs and sausage with roasted red pepper and tomato sauce, grilled savoy cabbage, and polenta. Am sure that in another year or two this will be a to die for wine.

IK, thanks for the TN's. I've had a few waiting for the right food pairing and was wondering how good it was given the positive things I've heard.

IK, thoroughly agree on this bottling. Was touted on this hummer by Fred Scherrer. WW
