Really interesting wine. Dark reddish-purple in color. Decanted 30 minutes before 1st pour. Opened with vivid aromas of carrot cake, particularly nutmeg. It was wild. We just sniffed and sniffed at it, since it was so interesting. After airing, it settled into more traditional aromas of black cherry and plums, offering those fruit flavors with good acidity and balance. A pine needle element on the finish added some complexity, while the nutmeg returns. Offered far more than one should expect from a $20 wine, and it was certainly interesting and promoted conversation and reflection. 14.1% alc.
