- RickH - 08-16-2000 I am having my General Manager and his wife over for a home cooked Spaghetti meal, everything from the noodles to the sauce is homemade. The issue that I am having is that he is from Europe and is a wine connoisseur and would like to serve some thing for during the meal and something after as a desert wine Keeping in mind I would like to impress him with some American made wine. Please help. - Innkeeper - 08-16-2000 Hi Rick H, and welcome to the Wine Board. Here are two All American suggestions for you. With the pasta have a 1997, Easton Winery, Shenandoah Valley Califorina, Barbera ($18.00), and for dessert a Bonney Doon, Muscat, Vin de Glaciene ($16.00 - 375ml). Don't know how much time you have, but both of these are currently available from www.wine.com . We only occasionally buy from them, but they have them. Am sure that they would ship expeditiously, and that you would be proud to serve them. Even a blind pig finds an acorn on occasion..... <vbg> BuckHawg - RickH - 08-16-2000 Are these a dry wine and what is the preferd temp. for serving them. Thank you for your response in advance [This message has been edited by RickH (edited 08-16-2000).] - winecollector - 08-16-2000 Blind pig? A blind pig? And I thought I had too much wine this evening! - Innkeeper - 08-17-2000 The Barbera is a dry wine with a ton of upfront fruit tempered by oak. Serve at 65 degrees F. The dessert wine is very sweet, and should be served at 40 degrees F. - mrdutton - 08-18-2000 I thought blind pigs found truffles, not acorns!! - RickH - 08-18-2000 Thanks alot I will let you know how it turns out. |
