I am having my General Manager and his wife over for a home cooked Spaghetti meal, everything from the noodles to the sauce is homemade. The issue that I am having is that he is from Europe and is a wine connoisseur and would like to serve some thing for during the meal and something after as a desert wine Keeping in mind I would like to impress him with some American made wine. Please help.

Hi Rick H, and welcome to the Wine Board. Here are two All American suggestions for you. With the pasta have a 1997, Easton Winery, Shenandoah Valley Califorina, Barbera ($18.00), and for dessert a Bonney Doon, Muscat, Vin de Glaciene ($16.00 - 375ml). Don't know how much time you have, but both of these are currently available from www.wine.com . We only occasionally buy from them, but they have them. Am sure that they would ship expeditiously, and that you would be proud to serve them.

IK is right on the mark with a Barbera recommendation. Even a blind pig finds an acorn on occasion..... <vbg>

Blind pig? A blind pig? And I thought I had too much wine this evening!

The Barbera is a dry wine with a ton of upfront fruit tempered by oak. Serve at 65 degrees F. The dessert wine is very sweet, and should be served at 40 degrees F.
