This was a purchase from our summer '05 trip to Willamette. Though we didn't get to visit the winery, which is located just outside McMinnville, we did taste this at the Oregon Wine Tasting Room, which pours the wines of many local folks that typically aren't open for tours. Decanted 30 minutes before 1st pour and through evening. Bright ruby in color. Nose of black and red cherries and pine needle, which I sometimes find in Willamette fruit. Delicate wine, though with some dusty tannins that frame the pretty cherry fruit. Red spices show up on the finish. Nice wine, and glad to have given it a few years of bottle age. The Estate Reserve wines spend a bit more time aging in oak, and the 18 months shows up with a touch of vanilla on the finish. The small, 13-acre vineyard is close-cropped, keeping yields down, and they have a small production. It's a family winery. Anyway, we enjoyed it, and it was just what I was looking for in a birthday wine. My favorite wine is Oregon Pinot, and this was unmistakably an Oregon Pinot. 13.6% alc. Paid $30. FWIW, WS 89, WE 86.
