I'm drinking Pinot Noir and red burgundies this month for a forum on Netscape--tough assignment since Pinot Noir is my favorite red variety!

13% alcohol
Purple-dark crimson color, not opaque. Nose of cherries and maybe a touch of violets(not pronounced enough to be definitive). On the palate rich cherry flavor only very slightly tart. Has the fruitiness I've come to expect from this vintage. Attractive, pleasing, but somewhat one-dimensional. No earthiness beneath the fruit. Lively aspect in the mouth. Very food friendly. It comes to the table like a well-behaved golden retriever--wagging its tail in joie de vivre but not jumping all over you and overwhelming or intimidiating you.

Thanks for the notes and for the thoughts on the other thread on the '99s. I look forward to your PN nots this month. Any particular line-up of wines planned?

I already posted the benchmark wines, a Louis Jadot basic Bourgogne Rouge and a Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir from Greg Norman.
Then the Rene Leclerc Gevrey-Chambertin and I am currently drinking a 1997 Nuits-St-Georges "Les Murgers" from Maison Bigot and Alex Gambal. Will try to include the Lange P.N. I brought home from Oregon and a Saintsbury Reserve Pinot Noir. Would like to open more 99 burgs if I can get to them.
