Been trying to explore some higher end Pinot Noir and popped this last night. A huge pinot, very dark in the glass. Big nose of root beer, cola, clove and exotic spice. Similar flavors with deep, concentrated pinot and root beer flavors with a kick of spice and a gaggle of tannins from mid palate thru the long finish. A delite to drink alone but totally overpowered our simple fare of delicate, crab stuffed fresh caught flounder, corn and tomatoes. So we put the wine aside and sipped alone after the meal. No idea what meal to pair with this monster but it was nice to experience the power of such a pinot noir...don't want a steady diet of it though. 14.4%Alc/vol. $35

A Google search shows that Belle Glos is in the Santa Maria district and that it is a Chuck Wagner project (from Caymus) specializing in Pinot Noirs.

wow, that wine sounds wonderful. I tend to drink wines in the $8-15 range typically, but occasionally spend ~$40 for a special evening. I'll keep my eyes open for this one. I'd like to find excuses for more frequent drinking of nice wines.

Correction: Chuck Wagner's son is the current wine producer.
