- TheEngineer - 07-27-2005 Nice simple Pinot Noir. Garnet in color but rather dark (vs opaque). Nose of dark fruits and wood. He palate is the same with a bit of spiciness and a bit of hotness. Not entirely together as still good amount of tannins coming out at the end and it is a bit hot at the end a la Rhone but nothing serious. Good value at $15.99 (I think it was less at their on-site store...somthing like $11-12 or so). - californiagirl - 07-27-2005 Eng- curious... Where did you find this? (I've only found V. Sattui at the winery. ) Have you ever been? I enjoyed their desserts, SW and light reds to the others, most reds were a bit too tannic for me. - TheEngineer - 07-27-2005 Yeah, I finally got to go to Napa late one afternoon when I was in Berkeley. I did visit the winery came back with about a case of their stuff. I was impresed with their port (zin port I think) and believe it or not, their medeira. With the whites, I tried their riesling (good), Muscat (very good), chardonnay (good), and a few others. I like their PN's and have enjoyed a few of their cabs as well. Overall, impressed with the wine and especially their range of wines....so that case plus purchase from Northern Berkeley wine co and K&L, it took me a couple of trips out to CA to bring everything home. Glad I know someone who lives out there [This message has been edited by TheEngineer (edited 07-27-2005).] - californiagirl - 07-28-2005 We enjoyed their madeira as well. I also liked their reislings, muscats and a dessert wine I believe was called Angelica. Dad, KC, had us try it with heated glasses. It was unusual, but quite good. |
