Russian River Valley. This is the second wine from Keegan, comprising the juice that just isn't good enough to make it. That having been said, it's a dynamite PN for about $15 -- I'd have guessed $25. Dark ruby color, with nose of cocoa and barnyard. Good black cherry flavors, with lots of complexity -- cinnamon, bacon fat, and a floral element that Anne and I can't agree on. Very satin-like on the tongue. Some very fine tannins show up late and cause the finish to linger. Yummy stuff -- I'm buying more, especially at that price. Picked it up at Whole Foods. Decanted 30 minutes before pouring -- recommend it due to some sediment -- unfiltered. 14.1% alc.

Popped another while entertaining this weekend, and while it didn't seem as complex as before, there is still great black cherry fruit, some plum this time, and it still that hard-to-pin-down floral element that remains elusive but interesting. Nice wine for $15.
