Picked this up at an auction. Opened for the first time and noticed a cork that had no color on it...this thing had been stored upright for the last 13 years..... On pouring, the nose filled the room right away. Nose of slightly sweet fruit, on the palate, that still sweet fruit, wonderful balance, great persistence, medium body moving towards maturity. Great bottle!

I have a 2002 of the same bottling.
What's your guess: Drink or hold?

Because of the producer, I'm treating this much more like a 1er Cru then the Village level and as such, the '02s that I've had are starting to enter their drinking window. No particular rush on this bottle but I would not worry about opening it either. My bottle was clearly peaked and on the way down but it had 13 years on it and '97 was not a great year unlike '02.

Thanks!
My current storage conditions are less than ideal, so I may not wait too long. Will post when I drink (maybe this fall).

Second bottle did not do so well. It struggled out of the gates, tried valiently to improve with a bit of air, it did for a while but then after an hour of so fell off the edge to be just an acidic aged drink.
