1998 Vincent Girardin More-Saint-Denis 1er Cru "Clos Des Ormes."

My wine merchants (back in Boise) were raving about this guy since one of them visited the estate in France and ordered a ton of it. Paid $30.

A crisp purplish-red colour. Vibrant red fruit on the nose (cherry and possibly raspberry), Same vibrant and rich fruit on the front of the palate. Blending marvelously into fine, round tannins that gave it just a subtle hint of peppery spice. Balanced off with a refreshing shot of acid.

My gosh, wonderful juice! This is what Pinot Noir is supposed to be. I have only seen this quality approuched in some of hte $50 or $60 dollar top Cuvees of the Oregon Pinots, and they are still not even close. I have not been this impressed with a wine in a while. Served it with Salmon Milano with Basil butter, Artichokes and sour dough baguette, Great combo. The lovely wife even enjoyed a small glass of it, considering she doesn't care for virtually any reds.
