- mrdutton - 12-07-2000 Got this one as a Christmas present. 1998 Olivier Daubresse Selections, Beaune(Appellation Beaune Controlee), Burgundy red wine, Mis en Bouteille par Domaine Maillard Pere et Fils. This Burgundy is 100% Pinot. Anyone have any thoughts, remembrances, or TN's for this baby? Thanks! - Thomas - 12-09-2000 Hey Dutton, by my calendar Christmas has yet to arrive. How do you get these presents so early? Sorry, no information for you. - hotwine - 12-09-2000 I was wondering that too, Foodie! Maybe he's looking under beds and in closets when his wife's out grocery-shopping. - mrdutton - 12-09-2000 No, my Cousin in Gaithersburg, Maryland (actually not that far from Drew's stomping grounds) had the wine shipped to me the other day from a store in McLean, VA. The box didn't say DONT OPEN TILL XMAS. So, I opened it! - hotwine - 12-09-2000 So that's you're story and you're stickin' to it, eh? Don't blame you. I'd have done the same. - Blue - 12-11-2000 I just tasted a 98 Beaune this weekend (at a wine tasting) 1998 Christophe Violot-Guillemard Beaune Clos du Roy. Amazing bouquet, great complexity, but too young. My suggestion for your wine, don't open it for at least 3 years. btw, the best wines tasted for their respective price categories were: 1998 Domaine Robert Arnoux Nuits St. Georges Les Proces ($50-$60) and 1998 Domaine Jean Noel Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet, 'Millennium'(~$20) note: somewhat spicy |
