1997 Ramspeck Pinot Noir, Napa Valley, $18, current release - 1,500 cases produced. This is another value-priced wine tried recently. Bright, intense red cherry fruit, somewhat tart, with faint hints of earthiness, well-balanced oak that is unobtrusive, and very nice acidity. We paired this wine with a standing rib roast of pork tonight - yummy...........

These '97s continue to amaze me. I hope I can find this one Bucko. Can't remember ever seeing it.....

Van the Man,

Ramspeck is hard to come by up your way. The distributor I worked for in New York/New Jersey used to carry it, but the supply was so limited even when I sold the wine to a retailer or restaurateur, it often never showed up in delivery, some more "important" people in the trade syphoned it off, I suppose, on its way out of the warehouse.

The only time I ever tasted Ramspeck was when we had placed it in grand tastings for the trade. I remember the PN was consistently cherry-like the way Bucko described it. Quite a nice value all around.
