Lake Marie, Santa Barbara Valley.

This has been our "romance" pinot for the past few years, and it is one of my wife's favorites. We had our last of the '98s last night. Decanted about 30 minutes, just long enough for it to warm up from cellar temp. Ruby color. Wonderful, juicy nose of black cherry with a silky entry that brings in raspberries. A textured mouthfeel, with some earthy and leather-like notes. Very soft tannins create structure, and good acidity makes for a refreshing drink. Long finish that emphasizes the fruit and brings in a subtle bit of vanilla that does nothing to overpower, as well as some cinnamon elements. A very nice wine at $23-$29, depending upon what local wine shop we've found it in. We'll miss this one, but are looking forward to the 2000, which I picked up in Chicago over the summer at Binny's. Alc. 13.3%.

Sound like one to look for.

Ditto. I'll be on the lookout too. My family will be spending Christmas in La Jolla, CA this year and maybe I can find it in a California wine shop. Very nice notes by the way.
