Here's a nice cheapee. A light in style pinot with nice flavors of cherry, tea, cola and earthy nuances. Nothing candied or overblown. I actually enjoyed sipping without food better than with some frozen thanksgiving leftover turkey breast and Eileen's Mother's fabulous turkey stuffing. The stuffing overwhelmed and smothered the pinot. I'll buy more to pair with cheeses and tidbits. 13.9% Alc/vol. $8.88

That was the last vintage produced by Mirassou under their own name. Gallo bought the name and all the current inventory back in September of 2002. All Mirassou wines are now Gallo wines starting with the 2003 vintage. Except for two members of the family who decided to go with Gallo and put their names on the labels to try to show some family continuity, the family is still making wines from their own vineyards and winery Gallo didn't buy under a new label name.
