This is Panther Creek's only blended wine, sourcing the Pinot fruit from several standout Willamette vineyards, such as Freedom Hill, Shea, and Youngberg Hill. It was a dark reddish-purple in color, with a nose of black cherry, plum, coffee, and smoke. Flavors of black cherry and plum, with a cola note that shows up on the finish. Persistent tannins suggest that another year or two would help this calm down and round out. Deep, rich, and mouthfilling, particularly for a 13% alc. wine, but again, it needs a bit of time to round out. 5000 cases produced. Anne bought it for $38 at a Whole Foods in Milwaukee, where she's been working on a trial for the last month. I went up to see her over the weekend, as she's been too busy to come home. It'll probably last for another 2-3 weeks. Ugh. So, "dananne" has just been a "dan" for the last month, and I'm none too happy about it. However, I'm lining up the best Pinot Noir in the cellar to celebrate her return sometime in November. In the meantime, I haven't opened much of anything that is noteworthy. Just older "daily drinking" stuff.
