- dananne - 05-16-2006 Rex Hill was our first stop last summer in Willamette, which was fitting because a Rex Hill PN was the first Oregon wine we ever tried. In hindsight, many of their wines weren't all that wonderful that day, but we picked up a few bottles -- this one, a single-vineyard '02 PN, and a PN rose (which may have been our favorite of the tasting). Decanted for almost an hour before pouring. Dark in color, almost purple, with a nose of black plum and smoke, with faint barnyard. Somewhat heavy, with dark fruit flavors on the entry that pick up the plum and add a pine needle note on the finish, which was a bit tannic -- this should have sat another year or three. Alc. 14.1%.
