13% alcohol. Purpler-red color; nearly opaque. Purple or dark fruits on the nose along with some violets. Boysenberry flavor and black raspberries. Long finish with a hint of pepper or clove at the end. Not as floral and aromatic as the 2002 vintage which knocked my socks off in 2005. I have two more bottles of the 2006 and may try one in 2012 and one in 2014. Still quite nice--maybe worthy of an 86 or 87 rather than a score in the 90's for the 2002.

Tough to beat them 02's and 99's right now. I don't mind the solidity of the 06's but you are right the 02's are another step up.
