With the Loring mailer in hand, I decided I needed to open an infant to reaffirm my commitment to the varietal. It was a smart move on my part. :-)

Deeply concentrated fruit of raspberry and blackberry and a touch of clove, with a very long finish that has a touch of vanilla oak. A fair amount of heat that seemed to subside as the wine got more air; enough that it was a little concerning.

I had opened another bottle of Burgundy that was corked, so this guy was called into action without having time to breath. As the evening wore on, the wine opened into a lovely expression of Cali Pinot. Very highly recommended, but needs a couple years to resolve. It should be outstanding.

I posted on this one sometime in mid-July, and had similar impressions -- particularly the little bite of heat and the need for a few years to allow it to calm down. A very nice wine, however.

Oh, and sorry about the Burg -- I hate it when that happens. Go screwcaps!

Hi Oos and thanks for the reminder. Had this at lunch twice in Newport Beach at Billys' on the Bay for lunch. Solid bottling. I agree this sucker needs time. Was surprised it was only 60 at the restaurant. WW
