We are new to wine tasting and we were wondering if Pinot Noir can be a sweet wine? Or is it usually dry? Also, can merlots be sweet? or are they usually dry also? Is there a blackberry merlot that is sweeter? Can you recommend some sweeter wines to try?

I've never had a pinot that was not dry and pinot noir, to me, seems to be less fruity than other grapes and I think this is due to common flavors of cola and tea. Merlot styles vary greatly and some dry ones are very fruity and show sweetness because of that. McManus produces a merlot that is very fruit forward that you may enjoy for less than $15.
