I liked this wine at a wine dinner in 2002 and purchased three bottles. At the earlier dinner I described it as having cherry flavors. Maybe I was influenced by the brandied cherry sauce on the fish course we had with the pinot noir.
13.5% alcohol
Color: Pretty purple red, slightly translucent
Stood a glass of it next to Archer's Edge and it was several shades paler than the Archery Summit wine.
Nose: Can't quite decide if it's more cherry cola or raspberry/blueberry; I do know it's very fragrant.
Taste: blueberry and sour cherry.
This has more blueberry in it than I like in my pinot noirs. Reminds me of the Merry Edwards Meredith pinot noir I had in February. It was from young vines in the Sonoma Coast region and was very blueberry dominated. I prefered her other pinot noir in which cherry flavors took the forefront.
I have two more bottles of the Savannah-Chanelle to see if there is a bottle variance or if it is just not the same as my recollection from the wine dinner.
