- mrdutton - 10-10-2000 Just had a half-case delivered to the house from www.evineyard.com. Non-vintage from Horton Vineyards in Virginia. Made from a diverse group of red grapes: 32% Mourvedre, 27% Carignan, 25% Syrah, 5% Tinto Cao, 5% Touriga Nacional, 3% Tannat, 1% Cabernet Franc, 1% Malbec and 1% Nebbiolo. Not cheap, but not expensive at $12.50 a bottle. Plenty of spicy aroma, plenty of fruit (but certainly not cloying) with soft tannins this is a most enjoyable wine. - Thomas - 10-11-2000 Would love to try it sometime--sounds great. One thing, Dutton: I would use the word cloying only to describe overly (maybe insipidly) sweet. Fruitiness is another matter. - mrdutton - 10-11-2000 Well I was thinking what was missing........ I just didn't include the words....... The wine is not astringent at all and is a bit off-dry but not really sweet if you get my drift.....!?! There's just a hint of residual sugar, to me along with the fruit. |
