so, i was sitting in the bar at the four seasons hotel in georgetown on 9/12, in DC to see the springsteen show the next night, and had a very tasty wine by the glass. i was very surprised how ready to drink this chateau gloria was (since it was a 2000), but that could have been cause the cork might have been popped days earlier. no detailed notes, just recall very prominent fruit and a very nice finish. also noted 2 things: 1) didn't have tar in the nose or taste as many bordeauxs do (and i don't care for that); and 2) this was not at all tannic. very nice stuff.

those of you that are sitting on bottles/cases of this, you will like it. and if you don't, let me know. i'd be glad to take some off your hands.

Gloria is always one of the wines to "Drink While you wait on your Classified Growths " to mature. I've always put a box of this lovely St. Julien in the cellar. Has the potential to age gracefully. The 82 was still drinking fabulously at 18 years old. A real P/Q bottle. WW

In my always humble, quiet, subtle opinion, Chat. Gloria is one of those Bordeaux that proves the waste of valuable time and money when waiting for the 1st growths to be drinkable...

I see that Spec's in Houston has it for $33.07 per or $372.47/cs. Will ask D to pick that one up on her next trip to visit her younger sister.

I find that true with most vintages of Bordeaux Period Foodinheimer. The 82, 89 and 2000 are the specific vintages to which I alluded as these are the only Bordeaux vintages I put in the cellar. ww

ww, is it possible? We are in full agreement. The stars must be aligned with the planets in an unusual formation so as to block the real nature of our existence on this earth, which is for both of us to be completely wrong on everything--savor the moment...
