Is there a good pairing with peanut butter?

- Bucko - 09-25-2005

Bread and jelly.

- californiagirl - 09-25-2005

This may sound out there, and I may be shot down, but possibly a dessert wine?? I'm thinking desserts, maybe a tawny port??

- Thomas - 09-26-2005

Californiagirl is right on.

If not Port, Madeira (Bual or Malmsey).

Dozer, ever have a peanut butter omelet? deeeeevine!

Being serious, a nice Sherry goes well with all kinds of nuts.

I was serious

are you serious about the omelet?

And do you have a recipie?

- Thomas - 10-06-2005

Yes.

3 eggs
a dash of seltzer
a dash of TABASCO
pat of butter
a good helping of creamy (nver chunky) peanut butter
handful of alfalfa sprouts

break the eggs, add the selzter and TBASACO, hand whip the eggs gently with a fork to the count of 40 and stop.

heat up the butter until it is just short of browning, throw in the eggs and let the sides cook (I move the eggs around to get an even cook)

when you see the center begin to cook, add the peanut butter and fold the eggs over it, count to 10 and turn off flame

slide the omelet onto a plate and top it with the sprouts

have glass of Sherry, et al, nearby.

Sounds like a variation on Pad Thai, a bit of an unusual variation, but interesting.

- Thomas - 10-06-2005

This is an omelet. I've never eaten Pad Thai. Is that a Thai omelet?

- Kcwhippet - 10-06-2005

Pad Thai has chilis, sprouts, peanut butter, eggs and other stuff. Really good eats. Google it.

- wdonovan - 10-07-2005

Pad Thai is almost better than wine. I only collect wine because I can store it longer. LOL.
We drink Tavels or (even better) a super-light Provencal rose' with Pad Thai but I don't know about the Tavel / omelet thing.
I think you're better off not having the omelet. Have Pad Thai and drink a Tavel with it. You'll thank me.

What the blue-blazes is wrong with the " Breakfast of Champions " with this scrumptios dish? WW

- Georgie - 10-07-2005

Sorry folks, but the only thing that REALLY goes with PB&J is an ice-cold glass of milk!

- Thomas - 10-08-2005

Georgie, I've had California Chardonnays that taste like that...

- jmcginley1 - 10-08-2005

pad thai is awesome. I am very lucky to live near two Malaysian/Thai places.

That omelet is too interesting not to try.
