So I have been soaking up as much 2006 as possible since the 2007's are priced too high, and not as good as the 2006's. Way more approachable than 2005's.

Now I have been a big fan of Pontet Canet since 2000. The 2006 is blueish purple, with moderately soft tannins, but still enough to let you know its got some grip. Cassis, dark berry fruit, and insanely well balanced. This baby has some tremendous length in the palate. Good value at $55. Bought 2 cases as I am sure its got 25+ years on it...

Nice buy PW. I've only sampled the 06 but I've got some Mags stashed away in my cellar. tis a big wine!! Whered'd you get that for $55 per? on release?

I also started with the 2000's cuz it was rather inexpensive back then. $39 per and I bought two cases. I tried to keep my hands off these but i only got four left....

TE, I bought 12 cases of the 06 Pontet Canet today at $55 per bottle. A great buy. I also bought 30 other cases of wine for myself and three other friends. We buy and split the wines and only buy three to four bottles of First Growths, max, but I haven't done so since the 2006 vintage. AA
