- hotwine - 03-29-2006 She retrieved a ouple of NY strips from the freezer this AM and said "This is what you're grilling for supper, and I'll do some garlicky oven fries and ranch-style beans." That was the gauntlet, so off to the cellar I went and emerged all cobwebby with this little treasure. Allowed to warm to room temp and breathe for two hours before dinner but not decanted. Gorgeous in the glass, with a nose of leather and black currant; more on the palate, with cedar and pencil shavings joining the chorus, and just a touch of dirt; black currant is dominant. Moderate finish, a perfect accompaniment to the oak-grilled steaks. Beautiful wine! Just hitting its stride and should run hard for several years yet. 13% alc/vol. Think I paid about $40 in '01 or '02 but that part of the database is toast. - TheEngineer - 03-29-2006 Nice.....Should've gotten into wine earlier...... - brappy - 03-29-2006 Ch.
