Always a favorite in the weeners' cellar this 3rd growrh is also always a P/Q leader. Brite medium deep ruby. Nose of sweet berries, allspice, vanilla, and pencil shavings that all come over on the palate. Soft entry, solid center and a 4+-lapper finish. Loads of soft tannins shut it down so look for aminimum of 4-8 for this beauty to reach its' full potential. 91/91. 24 on futures. 13% alc. WW

Had another of these for lunch and it is coming along swimmingly. Nose has developed beautifully. Heady aromas of allspice, roses and red fruits. The tannins have softened and the finish has fleshed out so every component is completely solid. Balanced and definately progressing this will be a superior bottle in another 1-3. No change in scoring. WW

BRW hadn't had the pleasure so took this and the 2000 Bernaadotte to the club for lunch yesterday. As both are Haut Medocs this pairing graphically showed the difference between a growth and non-growth. Tho the Bernie was delicious in its' own right the Lagune had more depth, nuances, and refinement. Have to take the Lagune up to a 92+ and it is still still 2-4 from peaking. Good stuff! WW

Consumed anopther of these hummers last week and despite the fact that I mite become redundant, this is a killer bottle. Lovely ruby with no sign of age, the nose is expanding with the addition of a hint of earth to the mix. The finish has lengthened also along with the tannins softening. Now the buyers remorse begins to set in that I shoulda' purchased more. Take it to a solid 93. WW

Engineer,

Looks like WW may have been practicing his typing while gone.

Who posted that?

WW, have you any Ch. Coufran in your cellar?

- winoweenie - 07-04-2009

Nope. I quit buying futures after the 2000 vintage so have little knowledge of the latest and greatest from Bordeaux. WW

Looks like the adolescent needs a shaver for its' next birthday. Had this for lunch and boy do this baby-doll have some muscle. As noted before one of me favorites this hummer don't dissapoint. Seems like this property most always over-performs and this vintage is no exception. The pleasure meter on this has hit maximum so it's gonna' be making lots of appearances on this thread. Love this sucker. No change in scoring. WW
