Drinking this thing you would never know that it was a poor vintage.

The color is the first thing you notice. It is dark opaque purple. Nose is also rather intense with notes of dark currant, berries, toasted oak and pencil lead. On the palate, no doubt a full bodied, smooth and lush, but always with a sense that there is sufficient support behind it, keeping it rather fresh. Indian spices and a slightly hot and bitter finish.

In density, it is not much behind the 2000 I tried recently but this one was definitely fresher and at this stage, it is not far behind the 2000 to my palate. It was showing rather well.

Pavie is one of my favorite wines, especially in off vintages. The 2001 and the 2004 were lovely. I am sitting on a good deal of 2003, 2005 and 2006. I am looking for 2000, but its horrendously priced. Now that you think the 2007 is pretty smokin' I am going to buy it. Tastes a lot like a Pomerol vs. a St. Emilion because it has some chocolate, mocha flavors...

Had another over the weekend, holy moly..... despite that I think that it is closing down a bit, not a flamboyant as before but still stylish and ever so drinkable. I wish I had more....much more.....for this price. I wish I could afford the good vintages too.
