Had forgotten I'd ordered a box of this exceptional St. Estephe Cru Bourgeous en primur but was surprised by Bob at Vintage wines when he presented it to me. One of the smaller properties at 5 acres and a total production od 1000 cases it also has one of the strangest varietals of any producer there...80% merlot and 20% cabernet. I'd been touted on this by a buddy and am really delighted I was. Absolutely delicious drinking and with enough stuffing to improve for 3-5 and last another 5. Am almost(but not quite) ashamed to post the price (13.50) as this gets a solid P/Q rating of 96. If you see this beauty snatch it as there done' be one whale of a lot imported. WW

Opened another for lunch yesterday. Amazing what the small Crus can produce in exceptional years like 00. Strong nose developing. Earty, leatery, flowery stuff comes on like Black Bart. Focused and in super balance. Still some gritty tannins on the back. Kick this lil' hummer up to and 89 with "exceptional" lurking in another 2-3. WW

WW: my "local pusher" has the 2005 currently on sale for $22.99. is it still a must-buy at that price?
