- VouvrayHead - 05-27-2006 $20 Been reading great things about the vintage, so I was excited to try this at a tasting... My little sip was great, so I had the owner of the store I work at bring this guy in... Just the village level, not grand cru or anything... THIS is my style of Chard. There's maybe a wee touch of wood, but it fleshes things out rather than dominates or even asserts itself... Great focus on this wine with a bit of lemon, tart apple and maybe grapefruit with loads of minerals/wet stone...a hint of honey and nuttiness in the background. They'd probably come more to the fore with some bottle age, but it's awfully nice right now. I really like this wine... It's so focused and crystal clear in flavors that it seems prismatic in the mouth... [This message has been edited by VouvrayHead (edited 05-27-2006).] |
