From California and a mix of a few places (apparently not just Napa), I was actually looking forward to this as a few people that I worked with like it a lot. $17.99 so decent price, this wine tasted, smelled like a typical CA chardonnay. It was nicely smooth and the wood was well controlled (not like some of the extremes). Overall a very nice bottle that unfortunately got creamed by the competition a few hundred miles up North (2000 Mission Hill Estate Bottle Chardonnay, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada).

Food Pairing was Norweigan Salmon Roe and Scottish Gravlax served on chardonnay sushi rice and cucumber with wasabi dressing and BC Wild Salmon Pate

Just had this and the Overlook Damaris Reserve Chardonnay (and two of their Pinot Noirs and a Syrah) for the first time at a wine dinner in Raleigh last Thursday. Will report tomorrow at greater length but I was impressed with the Overlook. As you say, the wood was well controlled and that is why I liked it. Met Eric Stern, the wine maker, at the dinner.
