- andrawes76 - 08-23-2009 Being in the wine biz has it perks and it delivers some punches too. A healthy pedigree from Flowers Chardonnay led me to believe I stumbled upon a find with the 05 Flowers. Opened it up and found it corked, bitter and not exemplary of its notes. I opened three consecutive bottles and lost interest in what would be a desperate attempt to salvage my 2 case buy. If its out there, don't buy it...ARGH! - VouvrayHead - 08-23-2009 That's interesting... I bought 2 of those for my Dad when you had them at $19 and they were fine. I'm generally not a fan at all of Calif. Chard, but it was pretty good stuff. Certainly wouldn't want to pay the $50+ it commands, but for $20, was a decent drink. - TheEngineer - 08-23-2009 Thanks for the heads up PW! - andrawes76 - 08-25-2009 You know in all fairness, the last 10 cases were highly successful, the one case I opened up could have been exposed. I held on this as the proportion of good and bad exceeded an acceptable risk. I managed to get a few cases of Pine Ridge Dijon Clone Chardonnay, Landmark Damaris, and Whitehall Lane Chard. Will report on those as soon as I've given them a whirl. |
