Had a chance to taste this today at a local wine shop (very generous pour too!)

Opaque even when held to the light, dark purple, great nose, but rather restrained still. Nose of coffee/chocolate, blackberries, cassis and some spices. On the palate, much the same, great volumes of flavours but still with good balance, a bit hot at the end. Tannins receding but it felt like the fruit was a bit too, good acidity. Rich but not overtly so. I was rather impressed.

Have found most of the 97s to just be coming on after a fairly long dumb spell. Had the 97 Spottswood last week and it was restrained also.WW
