75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot,
8% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec and 1% Cabernat Franc.$13 per bottle
I got a lot of chocolate and cherry fruit from this wine. It was beautiful from start to finish. A great value!

We both agreed that this should be a repeat buy. Excellent wine that I would have guessed to be a $30+ bottle if I didn't know any better. This wine was the "Ruby Throated" in the humming bird series. Haven't seen the others, but will keep an eye out based on this one being such a winner.

It's down in San Martin, CA. That's south of San Jose between Morgan Hill and Gilroy.

Our stores up here carry their Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and Zinfandel; but not this one unforunately.

I went to their web site to see what the bottle looked like for searching localy. The below are on their "accolades" link. Look at the Wine Enthusiast accolade...could the three be any more different?

San Francisco Chronicle , (July 27, 2006): Light vanilla and licorice overtones lie above the ripe blackberry and blueberry fruit aromas, which flit to a ripe, rich palate of boysenberry and cassis. Supple tannins and black cherry acidity help balance the ripe, fruit-forward style.

Wine Enthusiast, (March 2006): This is a somewhat harsh wine, edgy in both acids and tannins. However, it has polished blackberry and cherry flavors, and it will stand up well to rich, oily cheeses and meats.

I've been to their winery. Great place and many people use it for weddings. Just a pretty area. The wines are a great value too. Pricey homes in the area too...then again...what is not $$$ around San Jose?
