Opened this up at around midnight Tuesday evening. This needed a lot of air. I didn't decant. Just opened and waited. The first taste I had, the fruit wasn't really coming out. The wine was extremely tannic. My first thought was by the time the tannic structure came around, there would be no more fruit. This one opened up nicely around 3:30am. The tannins had softened, and the fruit was shouting at me. The '94 Pecota Merlot showed better, but this wine was right behind it. This also has at least another 5, if not 10 years left in it but I didn't regret opening this. It was beautiful.

On another note the Worthy lived up to it's billing. Lucsious fruit both in the nose and palate. The Worthy is elegant in it's own way. The Truth is right behind this one. The fruit is not as "Up front" as the Worthy, but the wine is a great value. I'll be getting more of this for everyday quaffing.

Another wine we tasted that evening was the '01 Miner Family vineyards "The Oracle". I didn't take any notes on this wine and didn't spend any real time with this one because of circumstances. But what time we did spend and what I got out of what I did have, I'll be getting a couple bottles to study this beauty as well.

I take it the Worthy and The Truth were 97s also? Like the structure on the Altimuras'. Haven't opened one in 3 or so. WW

I went to a wine dinner in Charlotte with Miner Family wines two years ago. My favorite that we tasted was the Pinot Noir although a friend who likes bigger, more robust wines, dissed the Pinot Noir and prefered the Syrah (as I recall).

No, the Truth and Worthy were both '03s. I knew we would want something while waiting for the other wines to open up.

I've only had the Oracle and the Cab from Miner. I would love to taste through thier entire portfolio though.

I was gifted a bottle of that 01 Miner Oracle over the holidays. Any ideas or suggestions on drinking window?

Great young Dananne, but probably even better with a bit of age. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to really study the wine. I'll get to this soon, as I know a supplier with this. I'll let you know what I find out.

I'm intrigued by the MIDNIGHT TUESDAY tasting. And still at it by 3 a.m. Do you get off work that late? Or, are your senses in tune better in the middle of the night? I'm more of a noon time taster as I'm better at notes with my eyes open. Just curious.

I had planned the tasting for my day off. I had to work for a sick co-worker. I went ahead with the tasting when I finished work. However, I do taste mostly late at night; Something to do with my body clock. If I worked traditional hours, I'd probably taste at more traditional times.......but, who knows?! Drew,

Related to another thread, I want to bring a bottle to you and taste the Worthy '03. I've got another case coming so I don't mind running through a few of the ones I have. I'll bring a couple of other fun things to taste, but I'm really curious about your opinion of this one. I just can't help but love this wine......
