Alright, I have no experience picking out any kind of wine so I'm definitely a newbie. I was wondering if anybody could help me match a wine with some pasta, gnocchi (potato pasta if you aren't familiar) preferably. Heh, keep in mind I'm a poor college student. Thanks

Hi Alex, and welcome to the Wine Board. A lot depends on what kind of sauce you put on your pasta or gnocchi, and what kind of meat or seafood you put in or by it. We like pesto with gnocchi.

We heavier sauces: tomato, pesto, meats, etc; go with an appropriate Italian Red such as Chianti Classico, Barbera d'Alba, (if you like acid with tomatoes) or Salice Salentino or Primitivo (if you don't).

If you are using like white sauces with seafood go with an appropriate Italian White such as Vermentino, Soave, or Gavi Bianco.

All the above you should be able to find in the $12 or less (in some cases much less) price zone.
