- GSBCReeves - 01-15-2002 We were given a bottle of Cabernet from Kenwood, CA...a Pellegrini Family Cloverdale Ranch 1993 Cab. which we were told was purchased from a wine shop in Colorado. I have not had luck finding it at any of my local wine shops (Chicago suburbs). Anyone heard of it? Know what it might run me if I did find it? Or....can recommend something similar if you've had it? I liked it better than the best cab. I've ever had (a stags leap region-Silverado- from the late 80's/early 90's if I'm remembering the year correctly). Although I am FAR from an expert...and maybe my tastebuds have been compromised since that Silverado a couple of years ago Any advice/info. appreciated! - Kcwhippet - 01-15-2002 The Pelligrini family has gone from being only grape growers to also making their own wine. They now make a Cab and Merlot from Cloverdale Ranch. You can get more details from their web site - www.pellegriniwines.com. They only offer a 97 cabernet on their site. I am under the assumption that different years can be TOTALLY different in quality/taste...is this a general rule? I never know what to get...only know what I like when I taste it. Thanks for the help - wondersofwine - 01-15-2002 California red wines may be more vintage-dependent than the whites. I understand that '97 was a pretty good vintage in general for CA cabs and '98 was a troublesome vintage. That doesn't mean that no good '98 cabs were produced. |
