- Drew - 12-06-2008 Sampled this at Midway yesterday and bought a case on the spot. Medium bodied showing dusty dark fruit, currant, dark cherry flavors with hints of chocolate and tobacco. Very, very nice. Paid $135 for the case. Nice QPR Napa Cab. Drew - winoweenie - 12-06-2008 This sucker's been my house wine for the last 6 months. Hotsie and others on the board have sung the praises also. Killer juice for 12.59 here in Az. It's also my gifting red for my customers salespeople this Xmas. WW - hotwine - 12-06-2008 Half-way through the second case and taking two btls to Christmas party tonight for pairing with BEEF tenderloin. Very very nice. - winoweenie - 12-06-2008 Just noticed my vintage is the 05. WW - TheEngineer - 12-06-2008 I agree, very nice for the price. It's a wine you can bring out for a party. For some reason, and I can't remember why, I think it is in some way related to the West Pinot Noirs....but don't quote me on that. getting old here. - Kcwhippet - 12-07-2008 Avalon and August West - same owner, same winemaker. Used to own Blackstone, also. Oh Eng, you missed the Belgian beer tasting yesterday. I could've used a few Belgian Beers. - winoweenie - 12-19-2008 Just received the monthly mailer from Hi-Time Cellars in Costa Mesa Ca. and it's their "Wine-of-the-Month". Also said the one and only Bobby-Boy His-Highness-Visionary stated in his newsletter that it was the best under 20buck Napa cab he'd had in 20 years or something along those lines. WW |
