- winoweenie - 06-03-2006 First the 92 Anderson. This beautifully balanced sucker has held up like Hoover Dern. Had 2 bottles this week, one by me-very-own-self and another with BigRedWines who is supposed to post on this at the threat of cellar-door-lock. The St. Francis was also extremely young in appearance and taste. Deep ruby. Lovely cassis, cocoa, cherry, and spices. Al;l come over on the palate. Big entry, weighty center and a 4+ lapper finish. 92/95. 30 by the box. 13% alc. The Peachy is from the Santa Lucia Highland vineyardof Doug Beckett. A lovely meritage with Cabernet, Cab Franc, and Merlot in the blend. Developed beautifully in the glass over 1 hour or so. Solid floral nose(roses?) with vanilla, red fruit, and a touch of vanilla. All hit the palate with the addition of a note of terrior. Well-made bottle that had some very fine-grained tannins that hadn't left. This one I wish I'd made a larger buy but that can be said for derned near every last bottle I open. 90/89. 27. 14.3% alc. WW - bigredwines - 06-03-2006 My first impression was finish, finish, wow FINISH.This steller juice just lasted forever.was a 5 lapper finish on a scale of 1 to 4.Nose was of well cellared, well aged wine. Large tastes of red cherries and blackberries.I score this a solid 95.thanks for sharing ww. - winoweenie - 10-17-2006 This was my heartbreak wine last nite. My only regret was that I had to endure such visual agony while experiencing such marvelous olfactory and tasting pleasure. This wines on a plateau with no impression of degraing one whit in the near future. Think there's still 2 from the box. Outstanding juice. WW ( the wine was the 92 ACV) [This message has been edited by winoweenie (edited 10-17-2006).] - Kcwhippet - 10-17-2006 We used to like the Per Se, but for some reason haven't bought any the past few years. - Innkeeper - 10-17-2006 I'm lost. Which wine are we now talking about? - Kcwhippet - 10-17-2006 The Weener was talking about the Anderson Conn Valley. I was talking about the Peachy Canyon. Sorry for confusing you there, IK. - winoweenie - 12-25-2006 Had another St. Francis for lunch yesterday with a nice thick grilled ribeye. Still seems like a baby but approaching maturity. Lovely juice. No change in scoring. WW |
