Which wine should be served with salmon steaks, grilled vegetables, corn on the cob, baked potatoes, and salad? I am truely a novice.

More than just one wine for your list.

If the salmon is grilled--Pinot Noir; if not, we need to know the preparation method. The vegetables will likely do ok with Pinot Noir, or maybe another light red like Dolcetto. The corn on the cob is a problem, at least for me. I like it without wine, but if I do have wine, it is a simple white (sorry ww, but then you probably can't eat corn on the cob because those teeth keep falling out).

For salad, use a balsamic dressing and make sure to have it with a semi-dry Riesling, one that has at least noticeable, but not overwhelming, residual sugar.

Oh yes: don't bake the potatoes; slice and grill them along with the other vegetables.

Simple solution for the corn on the cob...don't drink the wine while you eat the corn. Eat the corn, swallow, then put some other food in the mouth and then drink the wine.

A nice Pinot Noir that is not over-extracted or oaky.....

I like my grilled salmon and my grilled tuna and my grilled rock fish with a decent shiraz or syrah.

I tend to cook them fishes with a bit of a paprika and red pepper dry rub along with a bit of rosemary and sage.
