I liked this better than the last vintage of this I tried (2005 or 2006?) (I had also liked the 2002). Purchased for $16.99 at Apex Beverage Co., Apex, NC. 13.8% alcohol. A touch of Merlot adds softness and complexity. Aged 12 months in French and American oak barrels.
Red and black fruits (label suggests cherries and blackberries and I would agree with that.) It's mellow enough to enjoy now without decanting. Probably not an ager. I had it with jagerschnitzel (breaded pork in mushroom gravy). This wine does not require beef. Juicy but not jammy. A thumbs up for the price range.

We popped an '08 tonight. It was wonderful with a rib eye steak grilled over charcoal and mesquite chips. We had sides of baked potato and green baby peas. Great Saturday night on a long weekend.
