Okie-Dokie guys, It's now officially correct to praise the 99 Calif Cabs. The Specutater (oops, too close to Thanksgiving)
has selected 1/3rd of the top 100 wines of the year as 99 models. Wow! Am I glad we've guessed right for a change. Looks like the Cinq will get another boost in price agin' next year. The Pine Ridge and the Simi made the cut too. If you want any of the stuff reviewed that doesn't reside in your cellar, I'd suggest an early trip today to your friendly wine shop 'afore the herds start descending with their rating sheets in tow. Are we talking about drinking early or cellaring or both. Have heard many views on this vintage.

I've heard very mixed reviews on the 99 vintage. It beats the 98 vintagr, but it is not a classic year for sure.

The wines I've posted on throught the last 6 months and bought were all balanced, well-structured bottling that IMHO will age extremely well. My favorites so far are the Viader, both Phelps bottlings Napa and Insignia, Pine Ridge Ruterford & SLD, Shafer Napa and SLD, Plumpjack Napa & Oakville,Rutherford Oaks Napa,Chimney Rock SLD & Elevage, Merryvale Profile & Napa, Elyse, Paul Hobbs, Artesa, Dalle Valle Napa, Duckhorn Napa, Ch. Montelena, Ristow Estate, Dunn Napa, Villa Mt. Eden GE, and Sebastiani Alex. I'm convinced these will all give lots of drinking pleasure at their 10th and well beyond. WW
