Not a bad wine but needs some softening up....

1993 Sterling Reserve; Napa Valley (CA, US) - $14 (375 mL)

Darkly colored with a rich, dark ruby core. Nose of cherry, sandalwood, cedar and some violet coming through. On the palate, tart and tight initially. With an hour's air time, some nice, well balanced notes of black cherry and plum with sandalwood and cedar in the background and a hint of violet fraying on the edge. Fairly tannic structure which softened significantly with time. Best wait on this wine at least another 2 years, maybe more before trying again. In splits, another 6 months and I'll try another.

I have not had a memorable Sterling wine since their late 70s offerings. Talk about lost potential.....

Give the '95 Cab (both regular and Diamond Mountain Ranch) a try.
