Can anyone tell us the nutritional content of wines in general ? i.e. calories, protein, carbs, vitamins, fat, etc...

Thanx

Don't know the actual numbers but I can tell you there is a trace of nutrients in wine; each 4 oz. glass averages 100 calories and a fair level of carbohydrates. Wine is not a diet drink, but studies show its beneficial action against cholesterol build-up is good for the heart, and it may even provide mild protection against some cancers.

This post, coupled with your other post show that you either are interested in the subject or you are taking an exam; which is it?

A 3.5 oz glass of red table wine contains: 76 calories, 0.2 grams of protein, 2.5 grams of carbohydrate, traces of vitamins (best being 0.04 mcg Folic acid), more in minerals including 10 mg of sodium, and 116 mg of potassium.

3.5 oz? Who drinks wine in that measurement?

That's the size in my food values book, doubling it to seven would been a little large, and was too damn lazy to do any interpolations.

Weluvwine, I have never run across this question before. The idea behind great wine is that it ENHANCES the nutritional stuff you`re enjoying whilst drinking the grape. I for one certainly hope the only nutrition I receive from my glass is the enrichment of my being. One-A-Day makes a marvelous lil` tablet that should take up any deficiency in your bottle. Welcome to the Board. Winoweenie
