My wife enjoys wine, mostly red wines. She is very athletic but has recently started to put on weight even with her tuff workouts. Can someone tell me about the caloric intake of red wines compared to light beers? Also carb intake? Thanks, Jeffsmolek@aol.com

I've always been told that red wine has ZERO calories and ZERO carbs...

Stunt, welcome to the Board. Here's a link to a comparative 'Beverage Nutrition' chart that will answer your question:

Despite what the chart says, I agree with RAD cp

I have seen it described in this way....
if you had a scale between 0 and 10, where water was 0 and Oil was 10....wine would be about .5 on the scale.

I decided that teh few calories I get from wine were well worth it.

Hate to brust your bubbles, but a 3.5 oz (small) glass of red wine has 76 calories, and 2.5 grams of carbs. OK for a glass or two with a low carb diet, but the calories do mount up.
