I am interested in pursuing a career as a Somellier. Are there schools in the United States for this? What kind of degree and experiance are required? Are there career opportunities in this field?
Any other sources for info on this topic?
Thanks

You can bet your bottom dollar that there are career opportunities for the distinction of being known as a Somellier.

However the road to get there is hard, rough and not (need I say it) easily travelled.

Use the search function on this board and enter "somellier" as the search subject. You should get a lot of good information about various schools. Some are in NYC, some on the West Coast, a whole bunch in Europe.

UC Davis in California has some very good courses, Johnson & Wales in Rhode Island offers some also. (Bear in mind that Emeril is a J&W grad.)

I am just a wine lover. I am not even an enophile by a long shot. To become a somellier is a great accomplishment, if you make it: CONGRATULATIONS for a lot of hard work!!
