Been in court all afternoon for the sentencing of the individual who killed Sgt. John Platt and Officer Kevin McCarthy, Baltimore City Police Northeast District Officers, on 10-14-00 in an accident driving while intoxicated, .13 BAC, blowing a stop sign. 10 years for vehicular homicide on Sgt. Platt. 10 years for vehicular homicide on Off. McCarthy concurrent. 1 year driving while intoxicated, consecutive. All but 6 years suspended. 1 year credit for time served (he's been incarcerated since the accident 10-14-00). 1000 hours community service. Bottom line.....5 years in jail, eligible for parole in 2 plus his community service.... I’M SICK TO MY STOMACH!!!! Is this what you expect for two destroyed lives driving at .13??? That's the = of 28oz of wine, 7 oz of liquor or 7 beers! (Sorry to rant...I'm a little stressed right now)

Sorry to hear that, Drew. I never did understand the suspended sentence practice--suspended for what? To me it's like imposing a rule, but only sometimes...

Drew, sorry to hear the judiciary has 'screwed' the enforcers (& public) once again.
Simply put, suspended / concurrent sentencing is BS. Of drivers involved in those type accidents, most have been drivin' around endangering lives routinely. I'm sure you see that all the time Drew. These stories always make me think of Old West justice.
