Dear Friends,

Apparently it is no longer a felony to ship wine to Florida. Another small victory!

Check out this article in today's San Francisco Chronicle on the settlement with Allied Domecq that prompted this change.

I guess we'll have to bring UPS to the Supreme Court next. I knew that hotwine had problems with them in Texas, but didn't expect it here in New Hampshire. WRONG! Legally, even before the recent decision, New Hampshire was more open than Maine. Up there I only had to work around the felony thing. Here the it's the UPS thing. When I called Tobin James with my change of address, they said, "Well, we'll try to get you your shipments somehow."

Great news! The only problem with shipping to here is the heat. Today, for example, it's in the high 90's, with an index of about 110. I just came in from my garage, where it is so hot I felt like I couldn't breath.

Don't come here in July, August or September for a vacation, anyone. It's really unpleasant outside.
