Won't be able to attend the Nantucket Wine Festival this year (rats)--so I am taking advantage of some other events. Tomorrow I will dine at Chris's Steak House (part of proceeds go to Autism Society). If I order steak I will have a red wine. But Chris's also does nice seafood dishes such as lobster-stuffed flounder, or fish baked Greek style with vegetables and sauces topping the fish (not all deep-fried shrimps, clams, catfish, you name it, like some NC restaurants.). This Thursday I will be attending a Vegetarian Wine Dinner at Enoteca Vin in Raleigh. Chef Ashley has some exciting food-wine combinations planned. Next Thursday is a wine tasting at Carolina Wine Company in Raleigh. I will spend the night in nearby Cary and drive up Friday to Alexandria, VA. Saturday I will be attending a cancer research benefit California barrel tasting at the Watergate Hotel. (I wonder at my temerity--I know little about tasting such young California reds and probably will be put off by the tannins--but you should see the lineup of wineries!) Will try to take notes and stay sober without spitting!

(I should have made clear that the food dishes at Enoteca Vin will be vegetarian and the the wines will be organic. The wines will not be made from vegetables!)
