- dawn marie - 09-15-2002 Recently a friend mentioned that she had heard of a company that does home wine parties. Like Tupperware only wine. Has anyone heard of this? I would appreciate any information. - hotwine - 09-15-2002 Welcome to the board. The only outfit of that type that I have any experience with (and that was back in the late '70's) was Pieroth. A Web search turned up one called PRP (http://www.prpwine.com/index.html), and they also happen to handle Pieroth wines. Most operate a bit like a "book of the month club", in which members are offered (and expected to buy) particular wines at "discount" prices. In my case, I found myself fending off East European plonk that I didn't want, while trying to reach German offerings, which I did want. Had to buy so much of one to get a small amount of the other. Said to heck with it. That was a long time ago, and perhaps things have changed since. It's worth a try, and a good excuse to get a bunch of friends together to sample a variety of wines. - dawn marie - 09-15-2002 Thanks for the info. I might decide to just do a home wine tasting right now. Have a bunch of friends bring different wines and just go that way. The idea of someone bringing wine here to do a tasting ia a neat idea and really piqued my curiosity. It might be something that I will look into doing. |
